Recreational Activities in and around Winters
There are numerous recreational options in the Winters area including boating, kayaking, hiking, fishing, bicycling and more. Additionally, Napa Valley, the Pacific coast and the cities of Sacramento and San Francisco are close enough to be visited on day trips.
Putah Creek Nature Trail
The City of Winters has been making many infrastructure improvements lately including the restoration of an old railroad bridge that was originally constructed in 1906. The bridge had been closed for a number of years before being reopened on its 100 year anniversary in 2006. The bridge is located near the community center and a nature trail that runs along Putah Creek and is used frequently by pedestrians as well as bicycle enthusiasts.
Lake Solano is in the coastal foothills west of Winters and sees more than 200,000 visitors per year. The park offers numerous picnic areas (that can be reserved) and canoes and paddle boats can be rented in the summer months. The park also features a children's fishing pond, hiking trails, volleyball facilities and a playground. The park is also known for its numerous peacocks that are often seen (and even more often heard). There is a $5.00 parking fee upon entering the park.
Built in 1905, the Abbey House Inn Bed and Breakfast is a charming, restful stay in Winters, in northern California. A long-held secret of Yolo County, this quaint, old-fashioned country town is nestled in the "Blue Hills" and features a two-block historic downtown just a short stroll away. This setting is the perfect retreat for the vacation or business traveler.
